NJ Furniture Manufacturer Contempo Closet Implements LED Focused Light Solutions in their Wardrobe and Closet Storage Solutions

A Contempo Wardrobe and Headboard with LED attachments

Contempo Closet, a member of the Contempo Space family, has begun to offer LED focused light solutions in their extensive line of storage solutions.   Eco-friendly and non-invasive, Contempo Closet is using progressive lighting solutions to add a new level of taste, refinement and utility to their modern closet and wardrobe design solutions.

Passaic, NJ Feb. 17, 2012 – Contempo Closet, along with family brands Contempo Space, Contempo Wall, and Contempo Sofa, offers a wide variety of closets, wardrobes and other custom home furnishings equipped with modern design elements and technologies.  Contempo Closet is now integrating optional LED focused lighting solutions into their custom designs for freestanding closets, wardrobes and more.

Contempo Closet’s new solutions endeavor to use LED-lights for both utilitarian and style purposes.  Interior lights inside closet and wardrobe pieces will brighten dark storage spaces with full illumination at the opening of the door.  Likewise, Contempo’s design team is using lighting strips not only to create useful lighting, but also a dramatic accent for their furnishings, adding subtle shades and radiant borders along shelves and open cavities.

Headboards are being fashioned with adjustable overhead goose-neck lights for late night reading, and wardrobes can receive a similar exterior solution for added tone and decoration in dim settings.

Headboard with adjustable goose-neck lampsLED lights are an eco-friendly solution to home lighting needs, offering a wide variety of benefits to modern home-owners.  LED light bulbs last up to 25 years (or longer in some cases) and consume 90 percent less power than conventional light bulbs.  Thanks to such low power consumption they are compact and generate very little heat, leaving heat-sensitive valuables undamaged while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for everyone in the household.

Despite the low heat and energy consumption, modern LED lights still produce a luminous radiance in a bright, natural white color, making them an excellent accompaniment for nearly any modern wardrobe and space, regardless of style or color.

Contempo Closet, a member of the Contempo Space family, specializes in custom closets, wardrobes, dressers and more. The Most Powerful Cabinet In the USA

President Obama's Cabinet (2009)No, the President’s Cabinet is not where Obama keeps his linens.  It’s actually a group of appointed advisers who run various federal executive departments.  Some of the well-known positions in the Cabinet include Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Defense, and the Attorney General.

The first President’s Cabinet was appointed by President George Washington.  The members were future president Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State, future president Alexander Hamilton as Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of War Henry Knox, and Attorney General Edmund Randolph.  Since then, Cabinet positions have expanded to include Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Transportation, Energy, Education and more.

A lot of care goes into appointing a great cabinet.  You need versatility, stability, and members that can work together as well as operate independently.  Here at Contempo Closet, we instill those same qualities in our furniture.

Versatility – we build custom closets for a variety of unique situations.

Stability – our closets are made from durable materials and keep a brand new look for years

Independent – our furnishings are freestanding, meaning they don’t need to be attached or secured, but they can still blend in great in any space necessary.

Whether you’re running a country or redecorating a bedroom, the best solutions always feature versatility, stability and free standing capability.  Remember that, and you’ll never find yourself disappointed.

Some Strange Secrets of Former Presidents

History glorifies our president's as honorable men and scholars, but they've still got plenty of strange quirks and weird skeletons in their closets.

Many of our past presidents have been glorified as icons of the free world, men of progress, liberty and honor.  But nonetheless, they were all just regular people like the rest of us (except Teddy Roosevelt; he probably had some lion blood in him).  Hidden in the presidential closet, you can find plenty of quirks, misdeeds and strange facts that many might not consider presidential.  From the freaky to the funny to the just plain pathetic, here are some of our favorite facts about past presidents.

- William Howard Taft was so large he needed to install a new bathtub in the White House so he could fit comfortably.

- John Quincy Adams habitually went skinny dipping in the Potomac River.

- John Tyler fathered 15 children.

- James Buchanan never married.

- Andrew Johnson never attended school or had a formal education.

- Ulysses S. Grant smoked about 20 cigars a day.  He died of throat cancer (big surprise).

- Grant also received a $20 speeding ticket on his horse.

- Grover Cleveland dodged the draft by hiring someone else to go in his place.

- Warren G. Harding once gambled away the entire set of White House china on one hand of cards.  His advisors were casually known as “The Poker Cabinet.”

- George W. Bush proposed to his wife, Laura, after knowing her for only 3 months.

Barbie Gets A Dream Closet. Why Shouldn’t You?

At the Mercedes Benz NYC Fall Fashion Week, presenters revealed an unexpected but long overdue new event: Barbie’s Dream Closet.  Hosted by Mattel, the  53-year old icon was honored with Barbie’s The Dream Closet Cocktail Party at the David Rubenstein Atrium of Lincoln Center in New York.

Barbie made several appearances as various models donned decades-worth of signature Barbie styles.  Models mingled with designers, journalists, bloggers and, of course, children who enjoyed “hair styling, manicures and DIY art projects” at the Beauty Bar.

But the night’s grand spectacle came from several enormous computer screens offering the ultimate Barbie dress-up experience.  Highlighting over 50 years of fashion trends, the virtual wardrobe experience allowed participants to virtually delve into Barbie’s wardrobe, playing dress up with Barbie’s fashion anthology.

High-profile guests included Brooke Shields, Rose McGowan, and Kelly Rutherford.

Maybe 50 years ago when Barbie was young, the dream wardrobe was a big deal.  But nowadays, it doesn’t have to be.  At Contempo Closet, we build closets specifically to match your specifications in terms of size, space, color and finish.

Barbie has had her dream wardrobe for nearly half a century.  Isn’t it time you got yours?

For more information on Barbie’s Dream Closet visit barbiewow.com.  For more on the event, check out photos and coverage from Daily Mail.

Remembering Whitney Houston: An Icon of Music, Style and Fashion

Whitney Houston will be missedOn Saturday February 11, 2012, Whitney Houston was found dead at the Beverley Hilton Hotel in Beverley Hills, Los Angeles.  With her passing, the world has lost a genuine music and fashion icon, a woman adored world-over for nearly three decades.

In the early 1980’s, Houston began her career as a singer and model.  Her over the top charisma and charmed natural beauty drew camera lenses with ease, and in no time she was gracing the pages of top-tier publications such as Seventeen, Glamour, and Cosmopolitan.  As her singing career soared, she retained at all times a keen eye for dazzling presentation.  According to Vogue’s Annette Lin, Houston’s style was “pure glamour,” a singer who “glistened, pulling off even the brash fashions of the 1980s with class and panache.”

Watch this slideshow via Huffington Post for an excellent summation of Whitney’s fashion prowess through the decades.

Sharing Is Caring: Making The Most of Your Closet Space

sharing a closet

When you enter into a relationship with someone, you’re committing to share.  Thoughts, feelings, affection, there’s an insurmountable number of items – tangible and intangible – two people might share with one another.

How about the closet?  Space is running tight and although it may be tough at first, with a little time and patience you’ll find that sharing a wardrobe closet is a cinch.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

De-Clutter

If you don’t need it, get rid of it.  This is no longer just your space, and a big part of sharing is having respect for someone else’s.  Weed through your belongings regularly and get rid of anything that you don’t use.  If you don’t use it, but can’t bear to part with it, consider storing the item in the attic or somewhere out of the way.

Organize Together

Start off organizing your shared space together.  This way you both understand the space, the needs of each individual, the limitations and the behavior necessary to maintain an orderly space.

Use Dividers

Shelves, drawers, baskets, anything that could be used to make a division, use it.  The key to this whole project is to create clear markers and an understanding of personal space.  If you have anything that can make the distinction any clearer, use it and label it.

Respect the Space

You have your space.  Your partner has their space.  Period.  Don’t start encroaching on your partner’s territory unless you want them to start invading yours.

What Could You Put Under Your Bed?

Save space and stick some storage under you bed!

Downsizing and trying to save some space?  Let us make a suggestion: in addition to wardrobe, a dresser or a walk-in closet, why not consider sticking some extra storage space in an already essential piece of furniture, the bed?

Rooms are getting smaller and space is getting cramped, but that doesn’t mean you have to start getting rid of clothing and valuables.  Instead, the spatial shift simply requires a rethinking of how you fill your furniture space.

Don’t waste valuable storage space on a metal frame bed.  Try one of Contempo Closet’s hand-crafted platform beds with drawers and extra storage space beneath the mattress and in the headboard.

Don’t waste an in inch of space!  Add a little more storage to your bedroom solution and leave yourself with somewhere to walk.
